In Pune, history has its eyes on you

Hello Everyone,
It’s been a quarter now that I’ve been wanting to share about my Pune travel with my girlfriend(those are the best trips).while I am yet on some edits I decided to decode this boho casual look in the beautiful fort about the first day when we were full of energy to explore the city. Being designers we unconsciously planned on visiting Shanivar wada (as featured in Bajirao Mastani )as soon as we reached. Pune as we all know is very historically important city in the history of Maratha! Walking through those halls gave us a sense of past glory, echoes of the royals long past. The city itself has grown exponentially, turned into a hub of technology and knowledge. Coming here, in this relic of a lost era, was like stepping into another dimension. Made us think about the nature of time and how we as a civilization perceive movement.
Rhythm and the spoken words somehow grind to a halt within these walls, imagining the lives of the royals long gone was sometimes not difficult at all!
These photos ended up playing with lights and shadows, colors and tones of grey which I think is an excellent allegory for the relationship of the fort and the city it belongs to. Pune had moved on, built above and spread it's wings. All the while, this beautiful relic of its past remains preserved as a homage to the prowess of our ancestors.
The city has a rhythm, a tempo, a beat. Everything slows down in this liminal space, as we walked down those ancient paved paths once built for kings.
It is known that a ruling Peshwa was murdered within these very walls. They say that his pleas for help still echo here on full moon nights.

This palace complex is the survivor of a great fire, that raged for seven whole days. What survives is the granite, the heavy teak doors & deep foundations. We were hard pressed not to feel the chill in the atmosphere sometimes. The rumors about this palace are well earned. Be of strong mind and firm feet while entering this palace, for the beauty here has a bloody history.
